Shell necklace making is a major cultural practice continued by Tasmanian Aboriginal women for thousands of years. Shell stringing is one of the oldest traditions with shell necklaces being worn by both men and women to adorn their bodies. Shell necklaces were commonly traded for ochre or exchanged as gifts. The shell stringers are extended family units made up of mother and daughter teams. The necklaces reflect their passion for this continuing cultural tradition. A range of necklaces and bracelets are available.
