Julia Hewitt - Axis Design

Julia has a background in graphic design and has been hand spinning, dying and weaving for most of her life. It is a hands on partnership covering every aspect of the business from timber and fibre selection, object and packaging design and all facets of production. Many of Julia's colour combinations used in the weavings are inspired by the local Australian landscape. The different weights, colours and textures of the fibres used added to the different weaving patterns help create the final fabric of the woven products. The utilization of hand and eye skills in the process of turning and weaving also adds to the individual properties of the final object.
