Tasmanian manufacturers of fine crafted lounge, bedroom and dining furniture, using quality timers such as Tasmanian Blackwood, Myrtle, Sassafras, Huon, Musk and Tasmanian Oak. Although Rex works in both solids and veneers, his functional based products and furniture have in the last decade focused largely on Tasmania's hardwood veneers with designs aiming to reach a broad based market.
In the production of well designed and functional wooden articles for everyday use Axis Design aims to maximise the use of Australia's special timbers. The utilization of veneers in some designs both enhances the product and allows greater use of the resource. Designer Ian Hewitt is a professional wood turner with twenty years experience. He has also worked as a cabinet maker and in the building industries. Axis Design is represented in public and private collections both locally and internationally. A pair of matching Tiger-grain Myrtle lidded containers are part of the Tasmanian Wood Design Collection.
